Christ Church is a very warm and welcoming evangelical church in the village of Walshaw, Bury, Greater Manchester.
We are a church family focused on 'Living and sharing the Good News of Jesus Christ': loving God, valuing and caring for all members of our church family, and aspiring to make a positive difference in the world starting here in our community of Walshaw.
The whole church family meets together every Sunday morning and some Sunday evenings too and our worship is informal and relaxed.
If you are thinking of coming along and 'giving us a try' please do - we would love to meet you and get to know you." Steve
Helping people in need at this time
Lots of individuals and families, including those with young children, are really struggling at the moment with food poverty and hunger in our community. To help people in our community to support their neighbours we continue to partner Bury's fantastic Porch Boxes food Bank. Together with Cosalea Cafe and the Victoria Walshaw we are providing drop off points in the village for people to make donations of food ... for church this is the vicarage.
Please do help if you can. Thanks.
New era for Christ Church Walshaw
Having been ‘Priest in Charge’ of our parish for the last four and a half years Steve was instituted as ‘Vicar’ of the Parish of Christ Church Walshaw on Wednesday 16th September by the Bishop of Bolton, Mark Ashcroft.
You can watch a recording of the service HERE:
Church looks a bit different for now
Morning Worship Online
Much of 2020 we have been unable to meet together including to worship. However we have been sharing in worship virtually, with our own recorded services on You Tube. The links for these are HERE
Baby & Toddler Group Online
We have really missed our tots who come with their carers on a Wednesday morning for our Baby & Toddler group ... so we have been producing Baby & Toddler Group online videos plus more 'Play & Pray activity cards. The links for these are HERE
Toddler Worship Online
We know many of the youngest members of our church family will be missing church at the moment so over the course of the last few weeks we have been producing Toddler Worship Videos and 'Play & Pray activity cards. The links for these are HERE
we are very much aware that the short reflections in our online Morning Worship services only scratch the surface when it comes to studying the Bible and growing deeper in our faith. We are therefore recommending some 'Going Deeper' videos each week for you to watch on You Tube ... talks and interviews with world renown Christian speakers. We are also recommending a Book of the Month each month. The links to these are HERE
Worship Songs for kids 0 - 100
We love to sing at Christ Church Walshaw and we are really missing doing this. We also love singing contemporary worship songs at school assemblies too. So links for a few videos of songs we like to sing can be found HERE
Fun & Faith for Children & Young People
During these times we are unable to go into school to do assemblies (although Steve & Steph are recording mini assemblies for school periodically). Also our youth group has also been suspended and Children's Church on a Sunday has not been happening either. So ... we brought together some resources which we hope our C&YP will enjoy and help them as they look for follow Jesus. The links to these are HERE
Giving to Porch Boxes Food Bank

Prayer at this time
While we are unable to pray together we are still able to pray. The Church of England has produced numerous resoucres to help us pray ... some for the telephone, some available on the internet. You can find out more about these HERE
You may have benefited from one or more of our ministries over the years ....
you might have been helped to celebrate a very special time at Christ Church Walshaw like your wedding or a baptism; or
you might have been helped by the church when you, or a loved one was poorly, or when someone you loved died.
You might have enjoyed our Baby & Toddler Group with your little one, or
you might have made some new friends and really enjoyed singing with our Walshaw Community Choir.
It might be that you just love having our very grand and beautiful church building here in the midst of our community and you would like to help maintain it.
There are lots of reasons why you might want to support the work of Christ Church Walshaw, and help look after its building and grounds, financially.
This last few months have been especially difficult for the church as we have continued to worship; pray; care for those on their own; comfort those who are grieving; continue to connect with our community through our groups; partner agencies working in our community as well as across our nation and the world which help the most disadvantaged ... all while our income has dropped significantly while our church building is closed.
If you would like to join members of the church family who already give in support all these things, as a blessing to our community, you can do this by:
making a one off easy payment electronically and tax efficiently by clicking here
making a donation directly from your bank to the church bank account
'Parochial Church Council of Christ Church Walshaw'
Barclays Bank, Bury
Sort Code: 20-16-08
Acct No: 80255300
setting up a Standing Order to give to the church on a regular basis. A standing order an be found by clicking here. All you need to do is print the form off, complete it and send it to your bank
giving tax efficiently ... if you are a tax payer the government will increase your gift to the church (as a registered charity) by 25%. To increase your gift all you need to do is complete the Gift Aid Form which you can find here and then send it to Steve, our Priest (37 Gisburn Drive, Walshaw BL8 3DH), who will pass it on to the appropriate person
Thank you in advance for your support and generosity.
