Coronation Tea - Monday 8th May 2023
On the Bank Holiday of the Coronation weekend, the church hosted a special Coronation Afternoon Tea for residents living near the church, members of our Community groups (Baby and Toddler Group and Walshaw Community Choir), and other friends.
Around 90 guests attended and everyone enjoyed the occasion. A great team of volunteers and home bakers helped to ensure that everything ran smoothly, and there was plenty of food for everyone.
In the Coronation service, the King was presented with a Bible, and these remarkable words were spoken: 'We present you with this book, the most valuable thing that this world affords. Here is wisdom, this is the royal law, these are the lively oracles of God'.
It is not only Kings who can read the Bible, and so specially produced pocket sized 'Coronation Gospels' (actually John's Gospel) were offered at the tea to all guests. Following the event, 75 were also supplied to Christ Church Primary School for distribution to their years 5 and 6 pupils.
Thank you to everyone who came and helped to make the occasion a great success.
